Don't Be Us. Be Better.

Living in the year 2044 is like living in 2020 but four times worse. Instead of the COVID-19 pandemic, we now have aliens attacking our planet. I, Heidi Parker, write this journal for future generations to know what went wrong. But first, I need to tell you about what happened to bring us here.

Around the year 2039, NASA started receiving transmissions from somewhere in outer space and shortly thereafter, they showed up. On January 1, 2040 during a stormy night the Tromps landed on Earth. They originally came in peace and for a while, that’s how life went between us.

Peaceful.

For the first two years after the Tromps appeared, our relations were productive. We exchanged countless technologies and information between us, learning so much from each other.

Of course that peace did not last, or else I would not be writing this journal right now and could be kicking back in Hawaii sipping something alcoholic out of a coconut.

A year earlier, the president of the United States made his intolerance of alliances, the human or nonhuman kind, painfully clear. He began making threats against the Tromps by boasting about his Space Force and how they could take the Tromps out at the click of a button. As if that weren’t enough, the president rallied many of his followers with the promise of building a wall to keep the Tromps out of our planet. The best part was that he said he would make the Tromps pay for it!

Anyone with half a brain can recognize that this plan simply sounds insane. Yet his followers loved it! Anyway, I’ll get back on topic. The short answer is the president attacked the Tromps who up until this point were very peaceful and never showed any intention of harming us.

Our sudden turn on them made the Tromps enraged; they declared war on our entire world. They started with the USA and conquered the whole country within months. Then they moved on to Canada, South America and are currently in Europe. God save Africa when they get there.

The Tromps are ruthless fighting machines who stop at nothing to achieve victory. Any bit of resistance gets you killed. Their resolve, mixed with their guns, makes them a force to be reckoned with.

The worst part about this is that for awhile, the Tromps were just peacefully living among us wanting to help advance our civilization. This all could have been avoided if everybody just put aside their differences and focused more on working with the Tromps rather than vilifying them.

We have seen this happen too many times on our own planet throughout history. Events like the holocaust should have taught us better than this. But now we know what it actually feels like to be targeted.

For those reading this in the future, please listen to my warning.

Do not make our mistakes.

Learn from us.

And most importantly.

Be better.
