Introduction:

In this unprecedented, modern digital age, platforms such as Google and ChatGPT have begun to rapidly occupy the public's attention like a tornado. Few people can now remember a time when they had to ask teachers directly for information - questions can now be solved by tapping the keyboard entirely on your own.

So as we move towards a fully-digitized world, we find ourselves asking: can computers replace our ungrateful, complaining teachers? The speed of development of AI in recent years has proved everything: we humbly believe the answer to be YES.

Why You Need to Consider Government Supplied AI:

Over the last five years, a steady progression of school staff strikes reveals that our great nation is facing a new epidemic. Our teachers are sick and leaving! Since our crippled healthcare system obviously can’t cure them, we must find alternative solutions to ensure our young people are educated properly.

Our nation's schools are facing an unprecedented  crisis in the classroom - according to FoxxxxxxxNews, "as of October 2022... 45% of U.S. public schools registered at least ten teacher vacancies." The huge work pressure and the unmatched rewards are almost overwhelming the teachers! And as if things couldn’t get any worse, enrollment in traditional teacher training programs fell by about a third between 2010 and 2022. We are facing a long-term and permanent misalignment between the supply and demand for teachers.

"With the workload, demands from the state, pandemic restrictions, and lack of pay, I feel as if I am doing less of what I love, which is teaching," Charity Turpeau, a teacher from a local Californian middle school told Good Morning America hosts on January 6, 2020. She went on to explain that, "The paycheck does not match the amount of work we do and the overtime we need to use to complete it all."

In the United States, a 2022 Gallup Poll on professional burnout found that 44% of K–12 teachers said they often or always feel burned out at work, while 35% of college and university teachers said the same. Together, burnout and job unhappiness explained 27% of the reasons why teachers quit. Their departure has left a vacancy in American education, and the government has tried to restore it. But we here at WideOpenAI know that there just is no pleasing these teachers - policy after policy of improvements to pensions, timetables and class sizes have barely scratched the itch of these unhappy teachers.

Why Teachers Are Allegedly Leaving:

  1. Schools and classrooms are overcrowded
. As the population grows and education becomes more accessible, more students pour into the classroom. According to the IES survey, public school enrollment in grades K-12 for Fall 2021 was approximately 78,100 more students than for Fall 2020. As student numbers increase, a reduction in the allocation of learning resources for students and a decline in learning efficiency results.
  2. Public schools are underfunded. K-12 public schools continue to suffer from the recession. In the case that the school's funds cannot be guaranteed, they also need to bear the huge costs of school construction and teacher salaries. New teacher salaries for the 2021-2022 school year see more than a decade of salary increases, according to a recent report from the National Education Association (NEA). Still, 55 percent of teachers are considering leaving the profession earlier than planned. This will form a vicious circle, teachers leave because of wages, but schools cannot afford high wages.
  3. Education is unfair. Children from different demographics across the nation receive vastly different educational outcomes. Those who are from marginalized communities such as low-income, people of color, gender minority, disabled, and much more are more likely to receive education of lower quality due to the injustices in the education system.

But of course, we here at WideOpenAI know that it isn’t the education department’s fault that our schools are overcrowded, can’t support its crippling system and suffer from the aftershocks of racial tensions in a divided nation. We know you didn’t start the overpopulation crisis - our nation’s parents have by continuing to have babies! And now with Roe v. Wade overturned by our most trusted Supreme Court, it seems that our future might continue to be bleak if we don’t find a solution. That solution is only inches away from your fingertips.

How to Combat the Shortage of Teachers:

The rapid development of artificial intelligence is like a big hand opening eyelids, allowing us to discover a whole new world.

Government leaders, are you still troubled by the lack of teachers? Take a look at our AI teachers! AI education can solve the above problems and more. These robot teachers will become your right-hand assistants in solving the woes of our schools and making your voters happy! You will be guaranteed a 2024 election win!

AI don't have human emotions; they never get tired. No matter when you want to study, or for how long, they are always on call. You give it a charging cable, and it rewards you with its whole lifetime.

Meanwhile, innovations such as online learning platforms allow students to study anywhere. Students don't need to sit in crowded classrooms, and don't need to face 1-on-30 classrooms. They can take classes at home, in a library, or in a cafeteria – anywhere they think will help them learn. Students with disabilities don't have to worry about the inconvenience of travel. AI teaching allows you to experience the same classroom as others at home. And it's always a one-on-one class. You don't need to think about other people's progress; you can watch it hundreds of times, and keep practicing until you understand the problem.

The cost of AI education is also much lower than traditional education. No humanoid robots, heavy equipment or fixed locations are required. It only needs everyone to have a laptop to complete the study, which costs no more than a thousand dollars, far less than the tuition fees from childhood to adulthood and the endless payment of teachers' salaries (and pension subsidies)! This not only allows children from poor families to take the same courses as children from rich families, but also lets the government have excess funds to develop other areas.

A well-known example of using AI to provide personalized study plans, practice questions, and feedback is Khan Academy. Adaptive learning platforms use sophisticated algorithms to monitor   student performance and modify lessons as needed. So all students get the help they need at the right pace.

AI education will greatly improve the loopholes of traditional education and develop more suitable programs for students. This will greatly help the improvement of students' grades and will help manage the issue of making our disgruntled and tired teachers happy. Because let’s face it - there is just no pleasing them all!

President Biden and Secretary Cardona, please save America’s education system; make it an AI education system!
