A month ago, I was scrolling through reels mindlessly when a compilation of art pieces by Reuben Margolin stopped me in my tracks. Through a remarkable feat of engineering and strong mathematical reasoning, Margolin expresses organic, light, and hypnotic ways of movement using seemingly contrasting materials of tough timber, cogs, pulleys, and levers. Margolin’s sculptures transform rigid mechanical movement into something that feels natural and alive. Fascinated by his work and ethos, I have been inspired to use this project to further explore the intrinsic relationship between the arts , nature, and mathematics through kinetic sculpture...
